On 1 July, Sweden took over the Presidency of the European Union. Big challenges lie ahead for the EU: the economy, the environment and more. On VATSIM, the challenge will be of a different nature: to land safely in busy traffic in Stockholm (ESSA and ESSB), finding apron space at the small airport in Växjö (ESMX) and coping with Swedish autumn weather in Göteborg (ESGG) and Malmö (ESMS and EKCH).

Discover Sweden this summer and autumn, with 9 VATSIM events in 7 different cities:

9 July:  Jönköping (ESGJ)
15 July: Stockholm (ESSB)
23 July: Åre (ESNZ and ENVA)
5 September: Stockholm (ESSA)
13 September: Växjö (ESMX)
23 September: Göteborg (ESGP)
2 October: Göteborg (ESGG)
15 October: Umeå (ESNU)
19 November: Malmö (ESMS and EKCH)

On 15 July, it's time for the first of two events in Stockholm, this time at Bromma (ESSB):

Stockholm - the capital of scandinavia

Stockholm has approximately 2 000 000 inhabitants and is growing fast. It is the region's economic and financial centre and has one of the world's largest information technology clusters. Stockholm hosts the informal meeting of ministers for justice and home affairs (JHA) on 15–17 July and the informal meeting of ministers for foreign affairs (Gymnich) on 4-5 September.
