On 1 July, Sweden took over the Presidency of the European Union. Big challenges lie ahead for the EU: the economy, the environment and more. On VATSIM, the challenge will be of a different nature: to land safely in busy traffic in Stockholm (ESSA and ESSB), finding apron space at the small airport in Växjö (ESMX) and coping with Swedish autumn weather in Göteborg (ESGG) and Malmö (ESMS and EKCH).
Discover Sweden this summer and autumn, with 9 VATSIM events in 7 different cities:
9 July: Jönköping (ESGJ) 15 July: Stockholm (ESSB) 23 July: Åre (ESNZ and ENVA) 5 September: Stockholm (ESSA) 13 September: Växjö (ESMX) 23 September: Göteborg (ESGP) 2 October: Göteborg (ESGG) 15 October: Umeå (ESNU) 19 November: Malmö (ESMS and EKCH)
On 23 July, the location is Åre, and the staffed airports will be Åre Östersund (ESNZ) and Trondheim Vaernes (ENVA):
åre - the world's best ski resort
Åre is a winter sports destination that welcomes a large number of foreign guests. Around 10 000 people live in the municipality. Åre hosts the informal meeting of energy ministers on 23–24 July and the informal meeting of environment ministers on 24–25 July.
