On 1 July, Sweden took over the Presidency of the European Union. Big challenges lie ahead for the EU: the economy, the environment and more. On VATSIM, the challenge will be of a different nature: to land safely in busy traffic in Stockholm (ESSA and ESSB), finding apron space at the small airport in Växjö (ESMX) and coping with Swedish autumn weather in Göteborg (ESGG) and Malmö (ESMS and EKCH).
Discover Sweden this summer and autumn, with 9 VATSIM events in 7 different cities:
9 July: Jönköping (ESGJ) 15 July: Stockholm (ESSB) 23 July: Åre (ESNZ and ENVA) 5 September: Stockholm (ESSA) 13 September: Växjö (ESMX) 23 September: Göteborg (ESGP) 2 October: Göteborg (ESGG) 15 October: Umeå (ESNU) 19 November: Malmö (ESMS and EKCH)
On 13 September, it's time to point the nose towards Växjö, a small airport in the middle of Småland, within an hour's flying time from Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Berlin.
växjö - the greenest city in europe
Växjö municipality has received a number of international environmental awards over the past decade, and has been declared ’Europe's greenest city' for its climate goals and successful work to combat climate change. On 13–15 September, Växjö plays host to the informal meeting of ministers for agriculture and fisheries.
