On 1 July, Sweden took over the Presidency of the European Union. Big challenges lie ahead for the EU: the economy, the environment and more. On VATSIM, the challenge will be of a different nature: to land safely in busy traffic in Stockholm (ESSA and ESSB), finding apron space at the small airport in Växjö (ESMX) and coping with Swedish autumn weather in Göteborg (ESGG) and Malmö (ESMS and EKCH).
Discover Sweden this summer and autumn, with 9 VATSIM events in 7 different cities:
9 July: Jönköping (ESGJ) 15 July: Stockholm (ESSB) 23 July: Åre (ESNZ and ENVA) 5 September: Stockholm (ESSA) 13 September: Växjö (ESMX) 23 September: Göteborg (ESGP) 2 October: Göteborg (ESGG) 15 October: Umeå (ESNU) 19 November: Malmö (ESMS and EKCH)
On 2 October, we open up Sweden's second largest airport, Göteborg/Landvetter.
göteborg - the port to sweden
Göteborg is Sweden’s second largest city, with half a million inhabitants. A significant proportion of Swedish import and export passes through Göteborg, the largest port in Scandinavia. Göteborg is the host for three informal ministerial meetings: the meeting of education ministers on 23–24 September, the meeting of defence ministers on 28–29 September and the meeting of finance ministers (ECOFIN) on 1–2 October.
