ESKN - Stockholm/Skavsta

Skavsta airport was established as a military air base (F 11 Nyköping) in the 1940s and developed into a civilian airport in 1984. In 1997 the airport acquired its first international route to London Stansted, operated by Ryanair. In 2003 Ryanair established a hub at Stockholm/Skavsta with 6 new routes. After that Wizzair opened routes to Eastern Europe.

Skavsta is also the base for the Swedish Coast Guard, which operates Dash 8-300 aircraft, and Saab Nyge Aero which does target towing using Learjet 35 and Mitsubishi MU-2 aircraft. The airport is also home to Nord-Flyg, which flies nightly mail flights using Cessna Caravan aircraft.
