Stockholm-Bromma Airport was opened in 1936 and is one of the oldest airports in Europe with paved runways. It was Stockholm's only airport until Arlanda was opened in 1962, and until then was the base for both domestic and international airlines. When Arlanda opened the international operations moved, and left at Bromma were the domestic flights for SAS and Linjeflyg. In 1983, all scheduled flights moved to Arlanda, making Bromma mainly a GA airport for the next decade. In 1992 the airport was again opened for scheduled traffic, and today the largest operator at Bromma is Malmö Aviation, with flights to Gothenburg, Umeå and Malmö, operated by Avro RJ100 aircraft. There are also many other domestic destinations served by smaller airlines using turboprops, as well as three international destinations: Brussels in Belgium, Aarhus in Denmark and Skien in Norway. Bromma is also the home base for the VIP fleet of the Swedish Air Force, used by government officials and the royal family.
The use of Bromma airport has been controversial for a long time, because of its location which today is surrounded by residential areas. Because of this, use of the airport is highly restricted, and it is (in real life) only open to aircraft with an MTOW of maximum 50,000 kg, and which meet stringent noise requirements. The airport is only available between 0700 and 2200 local time (0900-1700 on Saturdays and 1000-2000 on Sundays), except for ambulance flights which may use the airport round the clock.
In real life Bromma is only available between 0700 and 2200 local time (0900-1700 on Saturdays and 1000-2000 on Sundays). Outside these hours TWR service is not available, and instead AFIS is provided. On VATSIM, traffic is of course welcome around the clock, but be aware that AFIS may be provided if you fly here at night.
Be advised that when AFIS is provided you will only receive information about other traffic, as well as meteorological information, but no separation is provided.
At first contact with Ground state stand position and latest received ATIS identification letter.
RWY 12: After landing vacate RWY via TWY D, E, F, G or B.
RWY 30: After landing vacate RWY via TWY D, C or A.
Contact Stockholm Control on assigned frequency as soon as practicable after takeoff, unless otherwise instructed.
Observe the maximum flight levels at the TMA entry points. Plan your descent into Stockholm TMA according to the level restrictions depicted on the STAR charts.
Maximum speed in Stockholm TMA below FL100 is 250 knots, unless otherwise instructed by ATC.
Visual approach is normally not permitted.
Normal VFR departure and arrival routes are established:
VFR procedures RWY 12
VFR procedures RWY 30
Report start-up to Ground. Contact TWR for hover taxi to heli strip 12/30. Take-off should be conducted parallel to the RWY. During darkness hover taxi via TWY A and C to RWY 12/30 and take off along RWY.
For helicopter departures VFR, clearance will be given via SOLVALLA, BÄLLSTA BRO or GOLFBANAN to relevant CTR exit point.
Helicopter arrivals VFR will be cleared from the relevant CTR entry point to holding point SOLVALLA, BÄLLSTA BRO or GOLFBANAN where approach clearance will be given to heli strip 12/30, or during darkness RWY 12/30. Land, without touch down, parallel to RWY (abeam TWY C during darkness). Request clearance to hover taxi to parking from TWR. During darkness hover taxi via TWY C and A to parking.
The helicopter VFR routes are depicted on the Landing Chart.
All parking stands are "turn-around" stands, so push-back is normally not needed.
This function will be added later.
