Global Rating Policy affecting Swedish TWR positions

E-mail Print PDF

The new VATSIM Global Rating Policy (GRP) will be effective from 16 August. The new GRP introduces the S2 rating, meaning that S1 is for DEL/GND, S2 for TWR, S3 for APP and C1 for ACC.

  • In VACCSCA, new students will be trained directly for the S2 level, and the S1 level will not be used.
  • Current validated S1 controllers will automatically be upgraded to S2 (TWR Controller).
  • An S2 rating is required for any position using the TWR suffix. This means that S2 will also be required for AFIS positions (XXXX_I_TWR).
  • An S3 rating is required for any position that provides APP services. This includes those TWR positions where the TWR is responsible for a TMA or TMA sector. In other words, S2 controllers will only be allowed to staff TWR positions which are only responsible for the control zone (CTR).

Please note that many TWR positions in Sweden will now require an S3 (APP) rating. For more information and a full list of these positions, please visit the forum: http://forum.vaccsca.org/index.php?showtopic=25762
