With just under two million passengers yearly, Keflavík is the bigger of the two airports serving the Icelandic capitial Reykjavík which lies about 50 kilometers from the city center. The aiports handles all international traffic into Iceland, as well as serving as a main hub for the country's two biggest carriers, Icelandair and Iceland Express. Many flights to the North American continent originate in Keflavík. The airport itself has two intersecting runways, 02/20 and 11/29.
