EKAH - Århus

E-mail Print PDF

Aarhus Airport lies half an hour away from the second largest city in Denmark, Århus. Once in competition with Billund Airport on being second largest airport in Denmark, Århus won the battle.

The airport is an old air force base, used to be called Tirstrup Airport. However, the base closed in 1997 and the airport has since then only been used for civilian traffic.

These days you find three types of scheduled passenger traffic to/from Århus. SAS has up to 6 daily departures on that short 25 minutes flight. Furthermore Ryanair attracts passengers from large parts of Jutland with their two daily flights from Aarhus to Standsted, and you also see regional aircraft to the large Scandinavian cities such as Oslo Göteborg.

Local procedures

When visiting the airport please notice:

  • No SID/STAR procedures established at Århus.
  • Departure: Climb to 700 ft before turning.
  • No Push back used. Aircraft turn out by them self.
